Tummy Tuck

Abdominolplasty / Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy Tuck also known as: Abdominoplasty.

Excess skin around the tummy area that doesn’t improve with exercise, is a common problem. This can be treated with a tummy tuck. Our specialised and skilled plastic/cosmetic Surgeon will explain the best option for you to improve your body contour.
Although different techniques may be used, they essentially involve removal of excess skin and fat and tightening of the abdominal muscles.

Mini tummy tuck may be appropriate for some or a full tummy tuck may be required. At consultation everything will be discussed and you will be given the best option for you. Liposuction can be done at the same time to give you the best result.

Women may have excess skin around the tummy after pregnancy or after weight loss. Men are similarly affected by weight loss. Stretch marks can also be removed during surgery.

The hospital stay is usually a one night stay. You can resume normal activity in around 7 to10 days, and you should be fully recovered within four to six weeks.

Surgery to the breasts can play a major role in improving personal confidence. The commonest procedures performed are breast augmentation.

  • Who will benefit?
Women and Men who feel their confidence is affected by a flabby, overhanging tummy will benefit from a tummy tuck. Maybe you have tried exercise and dieting, to no avail; tummy tuck surgery will give you the taut, slim appearance to give you greater confidence.
  • How is it done?
There are two different types of tummy tuck: full tummy tuck and mini tummy tuck. Tummy tuck surgery involves removing excess skin from around your abdominal area. Normally the abdominal muscles are also tightened. Your surgeon will discuss everything at consultation.
  • How long does it take?
Tummy tuck surgery requires a general anaesthetic (you will be completely unconscious). And an overnight stay in hospital.
  • What results can I expect?
You can expect a slimmer tummy with a tauter appearance that will enable greater confidence.
  • What happens after a tummy tuck?
A post-surgery abdominal support garment is to be worn constantly for 2 weeks after surgery. After that it must be worn during the day. The stomach will take up to 6 months to get your final result and could feel sore in the upcoming months after surgery. All will be discussed with your surgeon at consultation.
  • Can I combine a tummy tuck with other procedures?
Yes many people choose to combine tummy tucks with other surgery. Some women feel that after childbirth, as well as losing firmness in their tummy, their breasts also lose firmness and decide for a breast up lift or a breast augmentation.
Our surgeons may suggest combining a tummy tuck with liposuction in the same area, you may also want to explore having it in another area to give your body an overall slimmer effect.
